Mercy Children's Home Uganda
Our Story

More Than a
Home. We Are
Family.

Founded in 2020 by Alex Ssengonzi in Kasanda Bukuya, Uganda. 32 orphaned children. One powerful mission — love.

Who We Are

What We
Stand For

Mercy Children's Home was founded with one powerful belief — that every child, no matter their background, deserves to be loved, sheltered, fed and educated.

We are not just a children's home. We are a family. Every child who arrives broken leaves empowered. Every story of pain becomes a story of hope.

"We didn't start with money. We started with love. And love has been enough."

— Alex Ssengonzi, Founder · Mercy Children's Home

Our Story

How It All Began

Mercy Children's Home was founded in 2020 in Kasanda Bukuya, Uganda, to give orphaned children a safe home, food, education, and love. Today we care for 32 children.

Our Values

What We
Believe

01

Every Child Matters

No child is too broken, too small or too forgotten. Every child at Mercy Children's Home is seen, known and loved.

02

Love Before Resources

We started with love before we had money. Love is still our greatest resource and the foundation of everything we do.

03

Full Transparency

Every donation is accounted for. We share exactly how funds are used — because donors deserve to know their impact.

04

Community First

We work with local Ugandan communities, churches and schools — because sustainable change starts from within.

05

Education Always

We believe education is the most powerful tool against poverty. Every child at Mercy goes to school — no exceptions.

06

Faith Driven

Our work is rooted in faith and scripture. We believe God's love for children calls us to action every single day.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress."
— James 1:27
